Conker Conqueror

As is traditional we had an evening of bruised arms and knuckles.

Akela had picked up some Horse Chestnut seeds while at Badmington, watching his daughter compete.

The risk assessment was quickly dealt with, a few safety rules were laid down; No stamping, no aiming below the conker etc. etc

The Cubs paired off and battle commenced. The winners were either obvious, the other conker had failed-fallen apart-broken or after ten minutes Akela examined all the conkers and declared a winner. Our Cubs are a competitive bunch but not a single word of dissent was heard at any of the decisions.

After three rounds and lots of drilling and stringing replacement conkers, we had a three way final. After playing each other once the two best resulting Cubs were to play in the Grand Final.

After a titanic battle, James managed to smash Jess's conker and so won a very nicely designed certificate that he could take home and hang with pride.

The remaining conkers were taken by some of the Cubs and will no doubt be used over the next few days, assuming the local school doesn't catch them doing it.

The floor was cleared up by the Cubs with a little help from the Leaders.

A good night and remarkably few injuries. You should have seen Akela wrist and forearm though, they should come up very pretty and colourful.
