December 18th
Hollywood Bowl
Four Leaders, ninteen Cubs and one sibling arrived to take part, While Akela sorted them into teams, Hathi and Julie spent a few minutes signing the Cubs Christmas cards, yes we did leave it a bit late.
The teams now sorted Akela went to pay and the Cubs queued for their shoes to be exchanged for the correct bowling shoes. The man behind the counter managed to confuse some of the Cubs by only bringing one shoe if the Cubs asked for a (size) one, and asking if they wanted one two or two ones when the Cubs asked for a (size) two. The teams were then reorganised as Akela had been informed that as it was the busiest day of the year, not only could he not have any discount but we would be playing on three lanes instead of the four he had asked for.
The three teams were;
Akela with Shannon, Charlie, Deanna, Alice, Sammy, Jamie and Daniel.
Hathi and Baggy with Charlotte, Georgina, Chantell, Emma, Joe and Aimee.
Julie with Breiz, Paris, Conner, Jess, Matt, Megan and Mark.
The first game was interesting as the Cubs settled into the game and where determined to do well, In Hathi's group the first bowler was Georgina, who had got out of her sick bed to come along, scored a strike!! oh dear how was anybody going to follow that? As the game progressed nearly all of the Cubs managed a strike or a spare (semi-strike to the Cubs) some amazing use of the bumpers was executed to rack up some reasonable scores. Some of the Cubs occasionally had a problem with the direction the balls had to travel and a few watchers had to move quickly to avoid being bowled over.
After the first game we had a drinks break, the Hollywood Bowl staff were brilliant and arrived with the largest tray I have ever seen with all 24 drinks on it. At this point it was noticed that the closest five or six lanes were empty and stayed that way until we left. Akela was not happy about this but it is the season of good will so he didn't chew anyone's head off.

The second game was interesting in that some of the Cubs that had done well in the first game were not so high scoring. As there were eight people in the game the delay between bowling became a bit long and the Cubs found other ways to amuse themselves. Sometimes constructively and some times not. Four lanes of six would have been so much better, but we used what we had. The Parents arrived at the allotted time to find us still bowling, and had to wait while the food was brought to us and eaten and enjoyed.
The final scores were:
| Name | 1st Game | 2nd Game | Total Score |
| Charlotte | 105 | 99 | 204 |
| Georgina | 88 | 71 | 159 |
| Chantell | 80 | 83 | 163 |
| Emma | 103 | 78 | 181 |
| Joe | 114 | 90 | 204 |
| Aimee | 86 | 91 | 171 |
| Shannon | 98 | 87 | 185 |
| Charlie | 86 | 82 | 168 |
| Deanna | 91 | 92 | 183 |
| Alice | 97 | 72 | 169 |
| Sammy | 110 | 79 | 189 |
| Jamie | 99 | 82 | 181 |
| Daniel | 126 | 58 | 184 |
| Breiz | 90 | 71 | 161 |
| Paris | 78 | 90 | 168 |
| Conner | 73 | 0 | 73 |
| Jess | 85 | 85 | 170 |
| Matt | 76 | 82 | 156 |
| Megan | 89 | 80 | 169 |
In the first Game Daniel got the highest score of everybody including the Leaders so well done to him, but the highest combined scores were for the Boys - Joe and for the Girls - Charlotte. Well done to you both.
