Tonight as it was the last Pack night of the month it was games night. As it is also autumn and the local Horsechestnut trees had been busy dropping seeds all over the place. Some of this bounty had been picked up by Hathi, Mrs. Hathi and their youngest offspring.
After a short period of sorting, drilling and stringing they were ready for the Cubs great "Conker Conqueror Competition".
The Cubs paired off and had ten minutes to beat all kinds of damage out of each others conkers. If there was no obvious winner then a judge (Baggy or Akela) was required to adjudicate and if that failed a coin was tossed. This reduced the number of Cubs by 50%. The winners went on into the next round and ten minutes later the next round entrants were ready.

While the main competition was progressing the 'beaten' Cubs were at liberty to play against anyone that took their fancy. This kept Hathi and Miss May busy drilling and stringing replacement conkers.
At the end of the competition the winner was Aimee who won a certificate and as many conkers as she could carry.
There were no fingers stepped on as the no stamping rule was enforced by Akela. There were a few bruises as conkers missed the opponents conker and smacked into unprotected arms or legs.
