22nd December
As usual the Group held it's Christmas Carol Service, this year organised by Rich and Debbie. About a hundred people, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts plus families and friends.
Our live music was provided by Katie, an ex-Wednesday Cub now doing well in the Saint Georges Troop. A rousing Hymn, , to start with followed by the Beaver singing about a Red nosed Reindeer. This was popular and as Beavers appeared a little overwhelmed by the occasion the audience joined in.
A reading from the Bible regarding the arrival in Bethlehem of Mary and Joseph was read out by a Scout. This was followed by another Carol, Silent Night. This a beautiful Carol was sung with gusto by everybody.
The Cubs did some readings about how Christmas is celebrated in other countries. Apparently it is really hot there in the middle of their winter, strange.

The Cubs that did the readings were not those that were originally going to read but there has been a very nasty 'bug' going around the schools locally and several Cubs phoned Akela to say they would be unable to take part.
At this point Cyril (DC) made a short speech, gave Rich (Kaa) his 5 year service award, it is rumoured that his ten year award will be awarded at Easter. Chris our New GSL remade his promise as he in new to the Group and Alison (Baloo) was enrolled into the Scout movement and will now be able to take responsibility for the Cubs in her care.

After another Carol and some reading by the Scouts we were able to finish in time for some refreshments to be consumed.
